Gallery artists are a stylistically diverse group who employ a variety of mediums and techniques: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. Most commonly explored subject matter includes landscape, still life, the figure as well as mythic, personal, historical or political narratives.
In addition to services for its members, First Street Gallery provides opportunities for non-member artists to exhibit, through juried shows and other exhibitions; presents special exhibitions to engage local residents who in the past may have had little exposure to the arts community of New York; and presents programs to enhance the art-viewing experience for art students and other members of the public, through discussion of artists' work during exhibitions.
