Alison Perry (b. New York)
The transitory nature of light on the rural, suburban and urban landscape is the central focus of my art. I use painting and photography interchangeably to inform the other relative to my interest in iconography, people, objects and artifacts in the American landscape.
I live in the Hudson River Valley, NY, a region closely associated with the Hudson River School of Landscape Painting, which developed out of the Romantic Movement and was inspired by the European landscape painters from that era, 1770’s-1870’s.
I also live in the village of Nyack, Edward Hopper's birthplace. I’ve identified with his art, which was influenced by the Surrealist movement (1910’s-1960’s), since a teenager growing up on the north shore of Long Island, NY.
I started painting in my late 30’s, after working in journalistic and editorial photography in my 20's-30's, and returned to art last year, after a five-year break.
Alison Perry is offering a wide variety of fine art prints and originals for sale in the ArtSlant Salesroom (here)
