PØST, the seminal downtown artist-run space, has returned after a four-year hiatus.  During its original run from 1995-2005, artist/director Habib Kheradyar (aka HK Zamani) mounted up to 20+ exhibits each year, including in the elevator if his loft building on East Seventh Place.

Zamani made a bold return last April with Erased, in which he took six artists’ works linked to the gallery’s past and still in Zamani’s possession – among them Linda Besemer and Brad Spence – and ‘erased’ them using a spray gun filled with white paint, sans pre-approval.

This kamikaze attitude continues this month with, well, Kamikaze, in which the gallery will host 30 mostly solo exhibits from the 1st to the 30th, one show per day.   The put up-take down affair will include participants Steven Hull (9/12), Micol Hebron (9/19) and Justin Moore (9/26).  It’s a noble investment in sharing the wealth during a climate where even though wealth remains, no one is willing to take out a knife and spread it around.
