BECOMING VISIBLE
there are many pathways to the garden Photography/Sculpture.
Nine subversive photographic artists form this incarnation of Heads of Hydra, and each Head creates new work.
Hanging sculpture brought to the show by Randy Rushton ties together the work of the different artists and carries the mysticism of ancient cedar and the eros of nature through the pathway into the garden.
The Heads of Hydra are:
David Zimmer
Cornelia Peterson
Mark Sink
Christopher R. Perez
Richard Peterson
John Babcock
Sabin Aell
Katie Taft
The showʼs theme is inspired by the writings of San Francisco Surrealist poet Philip Lamentia. The quotes used for the showʼs title are from his works. Read about him: Phillip Lamantia,Phillip.
"He lights up the darkest moonlit desires, and lures the secret words from their hiding places, touches them, breathes on them and feeds them with the ripples of a lovers' kiss."
In a separate show at the same gallery, sculptural artists, Maureen Hearty, Scott Sturgis, Marybeth Mongovan and Randy Rushton will carry this subject into the 3rd dimension and will expose their interpretation in the green backyard space.
