The renovated FotoMuseum Provincie Antwerpen opened its doors in March 2004. After being closed for about three years, director-curator Christoph Ruys is not only in charge of a renovated building, but also of new policy lines. The policy does not only focus on purely museological activities (such as acquiring, studying, archiving and unlocking photography), but also initiatives such as portfolio watch days, appraisal days, film presentations, the FotoMuseum magazine, the two-yearly auction and the Flanders Photo Press Award are part of the permanent range of activities. This is how the FotoMuseum does not only cast a glance at the past and present of photography. Via its crossroads function the FotoMuseum also wants to think about the future of the medium!
